Muscatine Municipal Airport

PARALLEL TAXIWAY TO RUNWAY 12/30

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. completed the bid documents for grading, paving, lighting, signing, and marking the parallel taxiway to runway 12/30. The scope of the project also included construction administration and observation. The improvements included 19,000 cubic yards of on-site borrow excavation, 14,000 cubic yards of unsuitable excavation, 180 lineal feet of storm sewer, 14,500 square yards of 6" PCC paving, taxiway edge lights and signs, and pavement marking for the 3,600'x35' taxiway.

Muscatine Municipal Airport

CROSSWIND RUNWAY, CONNECTING TAXIWAYS, AND TURNAROUND

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. was retained by the City of Muscatine to provide design and construction management for the Runway 12/30 Paving and Lighting Project. This runway is 4,000' long by 75' wide with a 35' wide connecting taxiway and turnaround. The design of REIL's, PAPI's, and medium intensity edge lighting for the Runway and Taxiways was included. Site preparation, which included grading, storm sewer installation, and wetlands remediation was bid as a separate project in order to take full advantage of the available federal funding.

Muscatine Municipal Airport

RUNWAY 6/24 EXTENSION, PCC OVERLAY, AND FULL PARALLEL TAXIWAY

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. provided design and construction administration on a PCC Overlay of the primary runway (6/24) at the Muscatine Municipal Airport. This project included a 4,800'x100' PCC Overlay (White-Topping) of the primary runway and reconstruction of connecting taxiways. In addition, the project included an 800'x100' runway extension and construction of a 5,500' full parallel taxiway. Lighting and visual NAVAIDS were also improved as a part of the project. The American Concrete Pavement Association awarded the project a National Award for Excellence.

Muscatine Municipal Airport

APRON AND TAXIWAY RECONSTRUCTION

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. was responsible for planning, design, and construction administration for this Apron and Taxiway Reconstruction Project at the Muscatine Municipal Airport. The existing seal coat apron was removed and a 7" PCC Pavement with 6" rock base was placed. A new connecting taxiway was constructed from the apron to the primary runway. This project was completed in two phases with as little disruption to air service as possible. Also included in this project were storm sewer and grading, apron and taxiway lighting, pavement marking and signing.

Waterloo Municipal Airport

APRON RECONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. was retained by the Waterloo Airport to provide design and construction administration on three (3) ramp reconstruction projects. The west ramp included 9" PCC pavement with improved drainage and tiedowns, the east ramp included 7" inch PCC pavement with tiedowns and improved drainage, and the west T-hangar apron included a 6" inch PCC pavement replacement to access the existing T-hangars.

Muscatine Municipal Airport

ALP UPDATE

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. updated the Muscatine Municipal Airport ALP in preparation for the ultimate installation of an instrument landing system for Runway 24 for a precision approach. All portions of the ALP were included in this update: the narrative report, the airport layout drawing, the airport airspace plan, the inner portion of the approach surface drawing, the land use drawing, and the airport property map. The update involved aeronautical forecasting, windrose analysis with the most recent wind data, increasing the width of the primary surface, increasing the object free area width, increasing the size of the runway protection zone, lowering the approach slope surface, and relocating the building restriction line. Previously, Anderson-Bogert completed a major update to the ALP in 1993

Bloomfield Municipal Airport

ALP UPDATE

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. completed an update of the Bloomfield Municipal Airport ALP to revise all portions of the plan to match the new priorities of the Bloomfield Airport Commission. The plan addressed obstructions, new/additional hanger locations, runway extension site constraints, parking area expansion, runway widening, and apron expansion. Planning included updating all ALP drawings to meet current FAA standards and completing the accompanying required ALP narrative report.

Centerville Municipal Airport

ALP UPDATE

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. completed an update of the Centerville Municipal Airport ALP to revise all portions of the plan to match the new priorities of the Centerville Airport Commission. The plan addressed extension of the primary runway, crosswind runway development, and terminal area development including construction of up to three T-hangers, along with the associated apron space.

Knoxville Municipal Airport / Clarinda Municipal Airport

ALP UPDATE

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. performed an update of the Knoxville ALP and of the Clarinda ALP. After the aerial photography was completed and the new wind data was compiled, each ALP was updated using the most current FAA Standards. Runway orientations were reviewed, the GPS locations of each runway were checked, and all aspects of airport safety were considered. Following the ALP update, the five year Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) was compiled. These plans provided continued growth and safety improvements for both airports.

Muscatine Municipal Airport

HANGAR ACCESS ROAD

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. provided field surveys, preliminary design, final design, bid documents, cost opinions, bidding assistance, and construction observation/administration for this IDOT Office of Aviation funded project. Improvements included a 600' long roadway to provide vehicular hangar access, so that vehicles won't have to cross the aircraft apron, and included a parking area for vehicles at the hangar.

Muscatine Municipal Airport

SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. provided bid documents and technical specifications for the procurement of the following equipment: snow removal tractor, snow plow blade and carrier vehicle, and snow plow blade for an existing truck, which all met FAA procurement requirements for federal funding eligibility. The procurement included two separate bid packages/bid dates in order to take full advantage of available federal funding.

GENERAL AIRPORT CONSULTATION

Project Description: Since 1994, ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. has provided the City of Muscatine general airport consulting including applying for federal and state funding, updating the 5 year Airport Capital Improvement Program each year, reviewing airport infrastructure annually, reviewing proposed development in the vicinity of the airport for potential obstructions to air traffic, and answering general airport-related questions from the City and the airport manager.

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. provided planning, design, and construction administration for a pavement maintenance project for Runway 6/24, its taxiways, and the apron.

Muscatine Municipal Airport

LAND ACQUISITION TO BRL

Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. provided surveying services and administrative services in connection with the required land acquisition to the relocated Building Restriction Line (BRL) for the installation of an ILS. Administrative services included ordering a preliminary title search for each property, selecting and negotiating a contract for an appraiser and review appraiser, coordinating appraisals and appraisal review, making written offers of just compensation to all property owners, and negotiating purchasing agreements.

PAVEMENT MARKING FOR ILS/SAFETY AREA IMPROVEMENTS - RUNWAY 6/24

Project Description: ANDERSON_BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. provided plans and specifications for the upgrades required to the pavement marking on the main runway in connection with the proposed installation of an ILS. As a separate bid package, ANDERSON-BOGERT provided plans and specification for safety area improvements related to the ILS installation; these improvements included grading, gravel road construction, and fence relocation.

FENCE PROJECT

Project Description: ANDERSON_BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. was retained by the Muscatine Municipal Airport to design and perform construction management for a project to completely fence the outer perimeter of the airport property. The fence met all FAA regulations to improve safety by controlling persons and wildlife on the airport property.
