Client: Cedar Rapids GIS Department

Project Summary : ANDERSON-BOGERT has worked closely with the City of Cedar Rapids GIS Department in helping to establish the City of Cedar Rapids GIS and control network. There are 50 permanent survey monuments established in Linn County, all of which have coordinates established in the Iowa State Plane Coordinate System, North Zone, north American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). The elevations for these monuments are established in the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88). These monuments are used to establish control for survey work that ANDERSON-BOGERT performs throughout Linn County. The City of Cedar Rapids also has an extensive GIS built of the metropolitan area which includes the following: all the parcels in the City with reference to the data in the Recorder's Auditor's, Zoning, and Assessor's Offices; storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main information referenced to the Engineering and the Water Department data; aerial photography, topology, watersheds, FEMA, soil maps, and planametrics all referenced to the Linn County control network. All of this data is used daily at ANDERSON-BOGERT to perform various studies and other preliminary engineering and surveying duties.
