RIDGEWAY AVENUE RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT provided study, design and utility coordination tasks for this arterial street upgrade from a 2-lane rural roadway to a 5-lane urban roadway from west of Hudson Road to IA 58 in Cedar Falls. The project also involved the extension of Chancellor Drive south from the Cedar Falls Industrial Park to a roundabout connection with Ridgeway Avenue. The study components involved traffic analysis, access management, pedestrian and trail facilities, bus/transit accommodations, various intersection and left turn treatments, right-of-way determinations, construction staging, utility planning, and life cycle cost analysis comparing interim versus ultimate roadway improvements. Design tasks involved phased roadway and access modifications, two-lane roundabout, storm sewer and culverts, bio-retention facilities, erosion control, sanitary extensions for future development, coordination with water main extensions and relocations, sidewalks and trails, roundabout conflict lighting, pavement striping, signage, right-of-way acquisition plats, site demolitions and utility coordination. Neighborhood informational meetings were held initially to solicit input from the adjacent property owners and later to convey the proposed improvements to the public. The project also involved coordination with adjacent land developments and with the Iowa DOT IA 58 Corridor Study through Cedar Falls.
Project Cost: $4,400,000 (construction estimate)

1st AVENUE EAST (IA 922) AND COLLINS ROAD CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS
Project Description: This project is the first construction phase for the planned $75M Collins Road Improvements anticipated to occur over the next decade. This project involves the reconstruction of the 1st Avenue and Collins Road intersection by adding new traffic signals, dual left turn lanes on all approaches, and storm sewer. Collins Road will be reconstructed and widened from Twixt Town Road to east of 1st Avenue. 1st Avenue will be reconstructed, widened, and/or rehabilitated from 40th Street to Tama Street. New storm sewer and isolated sections of new water main along with multiple franchise utility relocations are involved with the project. Modifications to existing parking lots
and business entrances occur throughout the project corridor. Multiple retaining walls are proposed to reduce the grading impacts to adjacent properties including a large segmental block wall along Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Pedestrian facilities are included throughout the project limits.
The project involved a significant Context Sensitive Design process and several meetings with adjacent property and business owners. Major businesses involved are Lindale Mall, Sears, Best Buy, Home Depot and other restaurant and retail stores.
ANDERSON-BOGERT prepared construction plans for an Iowa DOT letting that included PCC widening with HMA overlay, patching, intersection widening, traffic signals, retaining walls, storm sewer, sidewalks, parking lot modifications, entrances and water main replacement. Right-of-way plats were prepared for permanent acquisitions, public utility easements, and temporary construction easements.

ALBURNETT ROAD EXTENSION FEASIBILITY STUDY
Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. was retained by the City of Marion to prepare a feasibility study of roadway corridor alternatives for Alburnett Road . The transportation study phase included land use development scenarios, roadway alignment impact analyses, utility impacts, impacts to the existing bicycle/pedestrian trail system, and incorporation of trail enhancements. A citizen's advisory group was used to develop consensus for a preferred alternative. Future traffic volume projections, from the local MPO QRS II model, were used to evaluate the impacts of various roadway alignments. Development alternatives were compared based on cost, impact to residents/businesses, traffic operational impacts, environmental impacts, impact to parks, fulfillment of long term needs, impact to neighborhoods. An Action Agenda was developed for project implementation.

GILBERT STREET AND U.S. HIGHWAY 6 INTERSECTION AND CORRIDOR STUDY
Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. was retained by Johnson County Council of Governments (JCCOG) to prepare a feasibility study for the City of Iowa City of roadway corridor alternatives for Gilbert Street from Stevens Drive to 2 nd Street , through its intersection with U.S. Highway 6. The corridor is a highly developed urban area suffering from heavy traffic congestion. The transportation study phase included roadway alignment impact analyses, utility impacts, impacts to the existing bicycle/pedestrian trail system, right-of-way requirements, typical roadway cross sections, and detailed cost estimates. Future traffic volume projections, from JCCOG, were used to evaluate the impacts of various intersection configurations. Alignment alternatives were compared based on cost, impact to businesses and business access, and traffic operational impacts. An Action Agenda was developed for project implementation.

IOWA HIGHWAY 965 AND SCALES BEND ROAD INTERSECTION STUDY
Project Description: ANDERSON-BOGERT Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. was retained by Johnson County Council of Governments (JCCOG) to prepare a feasibility study for the City of North Liberty of intersection alternatives for Ia. Hwy. 965 at Scales Bend Road . The study area is located in a newly developing urban area where a mixture of residential and commercial development could produce traffic congestion if appropriate improvements are not made to the existing roadway system. The transportation study phase included traffic projections and analyses based on future master planned roadway systems and development. The study also included a geometric analysis element of the roadway alignment, intersection sight distance, traffic signal warrant analysis, utility impacts, impacts to developable property, right-of-way requirements, short term and long term intersection improvements, and detailed cost estimates. An Action Agenda was developed for project implementation.
