Anderson Bogert provides transportation engineering services to facilitate your project from concept to completion. Whether a minor intersection widening or major arterial construction, we will provide professional design services to complete your project on time.

Our extensive experience begins with identifying funding sources and continues through to project design and construction administration.

Identifying Funding Sources

The success of many engineering projects relies on the ability of the design team to procure funding from dynamic sources. Anderson Bogert identifies funding sources at levels that range from local bonds to federal grants. We know that getting your project funded is one of the first steps to getting it on its way to completion. For every project we explore the following funding options:

  • Local TIF, Bonds, Tax Vehicles, Assessments
  • State ICAAP, U-STEP, TSF Grants
  • Federal Aid STP, CMAQ, Enhancement Funds
  • FEMA Disaster Recovery Funds
  • Other Grant Sources

Design

From Concept Statement to Final Plans, our experienced design staff gets the job done right. We understand and typically follow the Iowa DOT Project Development Process. Our project portfolio is complete with many urban roadway, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, recreational trail, and airport improvement projects for municipalities, counties, and private developers.

Construction Observation and Administration

Anderson Bogert is committed to overseeing all projects from initial design through final construction. We are often retained to administer construction contracts and inspect all work as it’s constructed. Our Iowa DOT certified construction inspectors protect our clients’ interests by making sure projects are completed promptly and to the specifications of the contract. We also confirm that appropriate payments are consistently made to the contractor. Our experience includes administration and oversight for all types of municipal road projects, recreational trails, storm sewers, and sanitary sewer systems.

Traffic Services

Traffic Engineering

Traffic engineering, traffic safety, traffic systems modeling, transportation planning, and infrastructure management capabilities are critical tools for the proper design and implementation of transportation improvement programs. Anderson Bogert has developed expertise in all disciplines of traffic engineering and traffic safety. Our traffic engineering staff utilize state-of-the-art computerized traffic data collection equipment and traffic modeling software. Tools include: RapidPlan, SimTraffic, Synchro, Highway Capacity Software (HCS), SIDRA (Roundabouts), and Crash Mapping Analysis Tool (CMAT).

Traffic Safety

Our Traffic Safety Services include: Crash Studies, Pedestrian Safety, School Route Studies, Bicycle Routes & Trail Studies, Construction Traffic Control, Railroad Crossings, and In-Pavement Crosswalk Warning Lights.

Traffic Planning

Our Traffic Planning Services include: Route Location Studies, Corridor Studies, Access Management, Interchange Feasibility, Parking Studies, Site-Development Impact Studies, Multi-Modal Transportation

Urban Streetscapes and Arterials

Anderson Bogert offers comprehensive transportation design services that include both urban streetscapes and arterials. Our streetscape designs focus on an integrated approach to multi-modal transportation that expands the usage of streets beyond traditional vehicles. We have experience implementing “complete streets” policies that open transportation corridors to cyclists and pedestrians alike.

Our experience expands beyond streetscapes into major transportation arterials. Over the past sixty years Anderson Bogert engineers have completed a variety of arterial projects, ranging from highway and corridor improvement projects to interstate loop ramp design and Interchange Operations Reports. Our expertise easily scales to meet the needs of the project at hand.

Roundabouts

Roundabouts have been in widespread use around the world for many years. However, they are a relatively new application within the United States. Roundabouts can offer several advantages over signalized intersections, including better overall safety performance, lower delays, and shorter traffic queues. They also provide for better management of speed and create opportunities for community enhancement features. In some cases, roundabouts can avoid or delay the need for expensive widening projects that would otherwise be necessary for signalization.

Anderson Bogert is experienced in roundabout design. Our transportation team has conducted traffic analysis and design services for several roundabouts in eastern Iowa.

Storm and Sanitary Sewer Services

Storm Sewer & Stormwater Management

All transportation projects must appropriately manage storm water runoff. Whether a new roadway or a reconstruction, Anderson Bogert evaluates runoff created by the project and designs an effective management system.

Trunk Sanitary Sewer Collection Systems

Trunk sewers are defined as those that collect sewage from local collection systems (sometimes several) and transfer the sewage to a treatment plant. These lines are larger in diameter, often cross municipal boundaries, and are several miles in length. Anderson Bogert has experience designing these projects, understanding multi-jurisdictional capacity needs and budgets, and working with property owners to limit construction impacts.
